Komodo Water proudly announces to be one of the Awardees from Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) Grand Challenge South and Southeast Asia Cohort 2. WE4F is a joint international initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the European Union (EU), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Netherlands, Sweden through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). This is a funding program to support enterprises in scale-up their business in the water-energy-food nexus.
In this program, Komodo Water get USD 125,000 fund to scale-up the business to provide derivative products from clean water. As our activity is located in the coastal area, we also see that there is another problem faced by the fishermen in the area. They struggle to get enough ice supply for their cold storage. To solve this problem, we develop sustainable ice production to support the fishery sector in coastal-rural areas. We give easier access for the fishermen to get ice blocks by installing a solar-powered ice blocks machine. This technology can produce up to 1-ton ice blocks per day. The solution will be implemented in Bari Village, Macang Pacar Sub-district, Manggarai Barat, NTT.
